New Year's Day Hike 2025
Maya writes:-
A record 19 folk turned up for Perry's New Year's Day hike. Partly because it was an 11 am start. That's a great beginning to the new year and bodes well for numbers for 2025!
Starting at the End of the Line Grocery Store, we took the 'high road' parallel to Lynn Creek all the way to the first debris chute. It was a long three hours to the lunch spot, and seemed to go on forever, but we all had great faith in Perry and got there in the end. Unfortunately, Lynn Creek was running too fast to sit by the water's edge, and it started to sprinkle while we ate lunch, so lunch time was shorter than Perry would have liked! We had all started to gather ourselves up while Perry continued to sit in his spot and eat, and eat, and drink.
Alas, he gave up trying to extend lunch and we all took the 'low road,' along Lynn Creek, with the Varley Trail thrown in for good measure, to return to the End of the Line. The hike was a total of over 15 km with over 300 m elevation gain and took about 4 hours to complete. And, as Rob kept saying, "19's a great average turnout for this year!"
