Trails, Trials, and Tribulations!

Eleven of us started early this morning on Millstream Road in West Vancouver and headed up the west side of Brother's Creek. This included two new members. One of whom is in training for a hiking trip in Peru in August.
The trail was great up until the new bridge; with the usual roots and, the not-so-usual, dry trail bed. The creek was in full flow and the waterfall, halfway up, was spectacular.
We crossed the new metal bridge to the east side of the creek, about a km from Blue Gentian lake and put on our spikes. That's when the trials and tribulations started. The snow was soft, melting from underneath, and there was many a drop through the snow to our hips. What's more is that we had great difficulty finding the route. It was reasonable as far as Lost Lake, but after that, trail finding became harder and harder. We looped back towards Brother's Creek but couldn't find a way across it. The supposed loop that we were meant to do had to be kiboshed. So, we found a couple of Knolls in the sun and had lunch. After lunch, the route finding was easy. We just retraced our own steps back. It was weird how quickly we got back to the bridge. Route finding is very time consuming. Still, it was a beautiful day, and not an unadventurous day!
And the route here from Iain’s Garmin GPSMAP66sr with some very dodgy statistics.
