Mount Killam, Gambier Island

A team of seven (including new member Garth, welcome Garth) set out on an August 7th that turned out to be Vancouver’s wettest August 7th since records began. A journey of bus, ferry and water taxi took us to the island and immediately it’s a world away from Vancouver. The walk starts on a short stretch of forest road before branching off left to a board walk through mixed woodland. A steady uphill took us to a lunch spot just short of the summit. We decided to head back down to the 3pm ferry rather than carrying on to a misty and wet summit. Lots of climbing over fallen trees on this walk and we look forward to returning to this island on some sunny day in the future.
