Lava Lake Loop

Reflections near the bungee bridge

Reflections near the bungee bridge

A Saturday stroll to replace our planned hike at Mount Saint Benedict. At 1000m of ascent and following on from torrential rain Mount St Benedict would have been a miserable experience. Instead we opted for this, mainly level, 11.5km loop alongside rivers and through forest, just south of Whistler. Five of us enjoyed a warm damp walk, inspiring reflections and fabulous fungi. The walk was very quiet until we approached the bungee jump and Brandywine Falls at which point it all became crowded. Having no takers for the bungee jump we stayed to watch two people throw themselves over the edge, apparently they enjoyed it.

This walk is certainly worthy of repeat, if only we knew more about fungi. For details of the route check it out here
