Shadows, Trees and Light by Louise

Sheila writes:-

A group of five of us set out midweek to explore a new (to us) network of trails around the Buntzen Lake area. Temperature was cool and pleasant but the humidity was not. After missing a couple of hidden trail entrances we finally started a steady climb through an open forested area. The trails were in good condition and passed through lots of nice varied terrain.  Along the route we passed many points of interest, such as a large upturned tree root that has become home to a few gnomes, part of an old truck, creek crossings using old trees as bridges and mountain bike tracks and jumps. Our first rest stop had views looking towards Mt. Seymour and Burnaby Mtn. Our second stop was for lunch and had a view all the way out Burrard Inlet to West Vancouver. This loop was 13km, 5.5 hours in total, with the added bonus of no bugs!
