Bowen Island - Killarney Lake and the pub
Louise writes:-
Nine hikers met at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal, catching the ferry over to Bowen Island. The weather was chilly with clear blue skies, a welcome break from the previous week's rain.
Our 20 minute ferry trip gave us spectacular views of the snowcapped Coastal Mountains. Arriving at Snug Cove we walked past the marina, heading towards the Killarney Lake trail. Our walk was leisurely, stopping at various viewpoints to take in the beautiful scenery. The trail takes you through a meadow where we crossed a wooden bridge. The trail is well used with several boardwalks reducing erosion and protecting vegetation. These boardwalks were extremely slippery and unfortunately a hiker slipped off into the undergrowth but no injuries to report.
After our hike we headed to Snug Cove and enjoyed a relaxing lunch at Doc Morgan’s. After lunch a few of us browsed the local shops before catching the ferry back to Vancouver.
