A very calm Whyte Lake by Tamsin

A Louise and Afsana joint adventure.

Louise writes

Seven adventurers met at the Whyte Lake trailhead on a cold but beautiful sunny morning. The start of the trail took us though old-growth forest climbing steadily to Whyte Lake. We stopped at the lake enjoying snacks and used the “lovely outhouse” before continuing our hike.

Halfway up the trail we encountered snow, after much discussion we decided to put on our spikes making our ascent easier. Unfortunately due to the trail conditions and lack of trail markers we didn’t make it to the top. The temperature was dropping so we had a quick lunch on a bluff just below West Knob with a wonderful view of Bowen Island.

Our descend was slow and steady climbing around trees avoiding roots and other obstacles. Once we hit the halfway point we took off our spikes continuing down at a faster pace.
