Eight members came upon a winter wonderland on Cypress! After a few hundred metres of hiking in bare trail and mud, spikes were put on for the rest of the way. We were grateful for overcast skies with some patches of blue. We reminded each other to stop and look up from our footing to appreciate the views. At the top, we were rewarded with pretty views of the mountain tops and the sound below. At lunch, we took shelter from the wind as we made sure to protect our lunches from the birds.
We were surprised to see so many groups coming up so late in the day. We hope they managed to stay safe [running shoes, no spikes, no poles] and the earlier sunset time.
AllTrails stated that we moved for 4 hr and 24 min, with a distance of 12.5 km and elevation gain of 600 meters. My health app said that I burned 1122 calories, so Louise’s chocolates were totally guilt-free!
A wonderful day with great company!
