Twelve of us met in front of the Starbucks at the base of the Grouse Mountain Gondola. We were at the top and starting our hike at 9:30 am. It was a beautiful, crisp fall day as we hiked up the Alpine Trail, past Thunderbird Ridge, Dam Mountain and Little Goat trails to the base of Goat Mountain where we had to navigate chains, roots and rocks to the top. After a steep hike down the other side of Goat Mountain we reached the junction to Goat Ridge. The ridge was a series of short up and down sections past blueberry bushes and also tarns where we filled our water bottles. At the end of the ridge we enjoyed a leisurely lunch and scenic views. The weather continued to clear throughout the day and the temperatures got quite warm. After hiking back to the junction we took the easier route skirting around the base of Goat Mountain on the return trip. Once back at the Gondola, five of our group stayed at the Bistro to enjoy a cold drink, while the rest of us headed down and home. All in all it was a wonderful day out. – Sheila
