Christmas Lights Walk, Wednesday December 21st 2022

Maya writes:-

It was a beautiful clear and very cold night, the coldest night of 2022, when nine of us started out at Victoria Park and Lonsdale.  The snow muted the Christmas lights somewhat, but because of the cold, the snow that had fallen in the previous few days still clung to the trees and made for a beautiful winter wonderland.  We headed along 8th and 10th towards Grand Boulevard, detoured north on Grand Boulevard, up the central parkway, where the walkway has been lit up with permanent lights.  It was very enchanting.  We strolled back to 10th and along 10th to Hendry.  From there we went south to Keith and meandered to Park & Tilford to see the Christmas lights there.  After that it was a fast stroll back along the Spirit Trail and 2nd street to Browns at Lonsdale and 2nd, where six of us had a delightful pint (or two) and some grub.  The highlights of the trip were the church at St. Georges and 8th Street, the sleigh at the gate of the Park & Tilford Gardens, see the group photo, and the enormous Moose, Reindeer, Elk, or plain ole deer, depending on one’s perspective, in the gardens.   The low point was that Andrew’s on Eighth wasn’t lit up when we passed it, because it was closed.

A grand evening was had by all.  We walked over 9 km and it took just under two and a half hours.  We timed our entrance to Browns at 8.33 pm.  Perfect timing for our 8.30 reservation.
