Brothers Creek

What a turnout we had for this little exploration of the forest. An incredible seventeen people (or seventeen incredible people) turned up to walk up through the forest on well established trails until we met the snow line. Lovely to be back in the snow again as we made our way to Blue Gentian Lake and then on to the Big Tree, which was really big. The tree is one of the biggest in BC and is estimated to be about 1100 years old. There was a brief rain shower before heading back to the cars.

We took advantage of the new bridge over the creek, splodged through muddy bits, admired big trees, debated who would test the ice on the lake, explained Irn-Bru and talked about The English Bay Barge. How small the tug, how large the barge, as a Breton Fisherman might say.

9.9kms and 547m of ascent. What a great start to winter activities, skiing starting soon and snowshoe activity too. Don’t forget to have a look at the December schedule to sign up for these activities. It’ll be out at the end of this month and expect ad hoc additions on sunny days in December.

See the track we took here from Iain’s GPS with some extra photos.
