A cycling team of eight met on a warm, dry, June evening for this 10.5km social loop around the Green Necklace, starting from Lonsdale Quay. The main tricky bit is the rather rugged uphill grunt on Chesterfield to intersect the Green Necklace, a jewel in North Vancouver’s outdoor play areas. It seems that a zig zag route is available and we’ll have a go at that next time, reducing the grunt.
New art has been installed on the boulevard, including the opportunity for free willow weaving classes. Caterpillars and butterflies were observed, with willow warp and weft. We also had a quick explanation of the many Mia Weinberg logos on the trail itself showing the number of possible uses from Sisyphus like exploits to T Rex pursuits, surely the trail with something for everyone.
This was a lovely evening ride, about 1h15m from meeting to getting to Burgoo where our table awaited. Great service, great food, great company.
Not many photos, too busy talking and looking
See the route here from Iain’s Garmin Edge 800 on what is likely one of its last trips before recycling he says with a straight face.
