Two and Two!

View South of Thunderbird Ridge

Only two of us headed up Grouse to spike up that 'Dam Mountain' and Thunderbird Ridge. Afsana and I woke up this morning and, contrary to the forecast,  there were no clouds to be seen and the sun was shining in full glory. Because of the Atmospheric river over the last few days the snow at the top was fresh and plentiful. So fresh that the usual trail was only snowshoe wide. Afsana and I made the most of it.

We took the Fritz path up, passing many folk by doing so. Took a couple of selfies at the top of that 'Dam Mountain' and continued down the back. As we took the selfie, a few clouds skirted Thunderbird Ridge, so we were wondering was it worthwhile going there. But it most definitely was worthwhile.  It seemed to be a long haul out to the ridge, and a short haul back, probably because we met lots of folk when returning from the Ridge. Also, we weren't alone on the Ridge. A young bloke joined us there, and quite a few more were arriving as we left. On the descent we pass a Lasse wearing only a sports bra. Good on making the most of the sun. We also met an elderly gentleman, whom we saw last week and were hoping to see again. He is an inspiration. He looks well into his seventies, if not eighties, and he was just going up when we were more than halfway down. He almost runs up that 'Dam Mountain.' We were further impressed when he got the same gondola down as we were on. I hope we are all doing the same at his age.
